Flexicrew in the Community

As many of you know, October was Breast Cancer Awareness month. It is likely that many of you know someone who has fought a battle with breast cancer. That is the case here at Flexicrew. Our accounting manager, Mayra Simmons, is no stranger to Breast Cancer Awareness month. Her mother, Elizabeth Saavedra, is proud to be a breast cancer survivor. On October 27th, Elizabeth, Mayra, as well as Misty Lomas and Ashley Broadus participated in The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of South Alabama walk.

Since its inception in 1993, over 8 million walkers have raised more than $460 million to help fight breast cancer through Making Strides alone. Today, nearly 300 Making Strides events take place nationwide to raise funds and awareness to put an end to breast cancer. The funds raised not only support breast cancer research; they also help provide mammograms to women who need them and help fund breast cancer information and services.

Breast Cancer Awareness month may be over, but breast cancer is not over yet. If you would like to learn more about the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events visit their Making Strides website.
