Everyone wants to feel like they are needed, and if an employer shows that they value the employee by supporting them through a difficult time, then it will be greatly appreciated. As stated earlier, everyone wants to feel as though they are needed. If a supervisor tells the employee that he or she has done a good job and that their work is appreciated, it will go a long way. If a person notices that they are being praised for good work, it will motivate them to keep doing the best that they can, and will likely get them to try to become a better employee in the process. Everyone likes praise, and if it will help a person try to better themselves as a worker in the process then it is a win-win.
